Urban Homeware

One of my friends has a fantastic blog Hunger and Sauce - check it our here - and the other day she pointed out some lovely homeware items that have appeared on the Urban Outfitters website. Naturally I had to check it out. What a great array of kitschy and quirky items! Somethings are new items that look like old - great for when you just can't find that vintage item you were looking for.

But one item I find a complete inspiration is a cushion that has been made from a beautiful vintage scarf. It is a gorgeous colour, with great texture and the recyling of old items into new things - it is the Springy Beard philosophy after all!

Guess what! The cushion is on sale!

Hope you have some successful treasuring hunting of your own.

My mind and body have been else where...

I'm so sorry for abandoning you. I have been having a much needed rest from the shop....although we were so busy during our 'rest' I might need more time to get over it. I have been trying to do some things on the sly. I am hoping to have some tutorials and do it yourself items soon, including crocheting granny squares and some lovely Autumn garland.

I really love Autumn. The weather can still be bright and sunny, but you need to start using that much loved knit cardy. The trees start to change colour and we have some great seasonal food to look forward to. As you can tell my heart is yearning for autumn so I have created a treasury list of lovely things to keep you occupied until I have some autumnal things of my own to show. Check out the treasury list here.

Love to you all

Quality items

I'm very proud of my lovely enamel candle holder today. It has been featured in someones treasury list titled 'Plain Walls = Uninspiring. Inspiring Walls = Creative'.

Green Enamel Candle Holder

The list was created by Lolovintage who also has some lovely items in her own shop. I particularly like the items below:

Sorry there isn't anymore today. It's been a bit of a crazy few days.

Take care out there everyone.

Cupcake Cases

After all my work yesterday, and an early morning car booting, I have been having a relaxing day off. A day off is rare for me so I decided to have the most fun I could. For me fun means cake, and in this case chocolate sponge, chocolate chip and blackberry cupcakes.

This was also an opportunity for me to use some very cute cupcake cases that I got from sainsbury's. I love the retro gingham design and it got me thinking about all the other cupcakes cases out there in the world. I decided that it was time for another treasury list.

One cupcake wrapper I like in particular is the doily effect one found at Mason Rabbit's Paperie. I think they would be perfect for a tea party or wedding. After further searching I also discovered a lovely blog called Victoria's Vintage which has a tutorial on how to make your own doily cake wrappers.

I think this is a great idea, particularly as you could use any colour or patterend doilies that you can find. I will have to remember to hunt for doilies next time I go car booting.

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend.
Speak to you all soon.

More treasures to delight

Well, I made my promise and I stuck to it. Head over to the shop now to see a load of new items that have been added. I have thrown in a load of pictures below just to give you a taster.

Cutlery from the Hansel and Gretel Picnic Basket

White and Stripes Chair
Summer Singapore Hat

I'm afraid I'm really tired after a full packed day of photographing, measuring, weighing and shipping quotations so I am going to doze on the sofa. I must be getting old - its only quarter to 10 on a Saturday!

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend. Get as much sun as you can.

Bunting for the boys

While you are waiting for more items to be added to the etsy shop (they're coming this weekend I promise), I thought I would fill you in on a little side project I have on the go.

My friends are expecting a baby boy in December (we're taking bets on him being a christmas baby). I am extremely excited and want to create a special baby box full of goodies for the lovely little fella who is coming into our lives. One request from my friend was bunting for boys - really nice bunting for boys is actually quite difficult to find. There are lots like these:

But these seem a little bit too grown up for a tiny little baby - maybe when he gets a bit older but before he is old enough to tell us how 'uncool' they are. (As a side point, I'm not even sure that kids/teens use the word 'uncool' any more?)

I was thinking that something more like this would be suitable, but why do things for boys always have to be blue?
So, I think I'm going to have to get the sewing machine out and produce something of my own. Lucky for me there are some great sellers on etsy that have the cutest fabric I have seen for a while.

Jody from fabricshoppe, I'm heading your way.

If any of you come across some boy bunting please let me know. Otherwise, speak to you next time.
Love to all

We went wee wee wee all the way home!

Well, we are back up and running after the market on Sunday. I had a really succesful day, selling 3 of my larger items and lots of small bits as well. And I think the stall looked great.

My Dad was also present at the market selling my Mum's ceramic items. My Mum is a very talented lady making beautiful vases which she hand throws.

Unfortunately, our beloved little piggy ended up coming home with us. But that means he will be making an appearance on the etsy shop soon, so keep an eye out!
I will be busy working away on items for the next market in September but I'm hoping to keep you posted on my progress, tutorials, product guides and more etsy treasury lists.

I hope to speak to you all soon.
